Between 17th March and 6th April, Norwegian fourth graders from 650 school classes will compete to collect used batteries for recycling. At the same time, the children will learn how we can all become better at taking care of the Earth’s resources.
Batterijakten (the battery hunt) is organised by Miljøagentene for the thirteenth time, in collaboration with Clas Ohlson, Varta, and Renas. Over the years, the competition has contributed to the recycling of more than 1,000 tonnes of batteries.
Let’s all learn from the fourth graders and get better at recycling our batteries!
✅ All batteries should be handed in for recycling.
✅ Take used batteries to stores that sell batteries or to a recycling station.
✅ Batteries may still contain residual energy and pose a fire risk. Therefore, you should tape over the terminals of the batteries before handing them in. Be especially careful with lithium batteries, 9-volt batteries, and button cell batteries.
