At the Sedex annual conference in London Clas Ohlson was acknowledged for its work together with QuizRR that carries out training in areas such as employee rights, health and safety amongst its Chinese suppliers. These training measures were nominated "Best new programme implemented" at the Sedex Awards.
In total, over 9,000 training courses have been carried out so far within the programme in 26 different Chinese factories. More than 4,000 factory workers have had training concerning their rights and responsibilities regarding workplace polices, fire and building safety, health and safety and workplace dialogue.
“We are very proud of this award which I view as an acknowledgement of the new steps we are taking in our sustainability efforts. We have gone from managing compliance in the factories to go beyond audit, working more proactively together with our suppliers, which gives us a better prerequisite to ensure long-term profitability for our business,” says Åsa Portnoff Sundström, Head of Sustainability at Clas Ohlson.
