The Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive
The EMC Directive applies to all electrical and electronic equipment containing electrical and/or electronic components capable of generating electromagnetic disturbance or the performance of which is liable to be affected by such disturbance.
The principal objectives are to ensure:
1. That the electromagnetic emissions generated by the equipment do not affect the performance of other apparatus.
2. That the equipment has sufficient immunity to the electromagnetic disturbance to enable it to operate without unacceptable degradation of its intended use.
There must be an EC Declaration of Conformity (DoC) for every product.
