The mail order business that Clas Ohlson started in 1918 in Insjön is now an established European retail business. There are about three thousand staff working in Sweden, Norway, Finland and the UK who all follow our company motto “Making things easier for people to solve their everyday practical problems”. Clas Ohlson is a rapidly expanding retail business with sales of over SEK 5 billion in Sweden, Norway, Finland and the UK. The Head Office lies in the same town where its business operation began in Insjön, Dalarna County. The company has been listed on Stockholm's Stock Exchange (OMX) since 1999.

In Sweden and Norway, we sell a wide array of home, multimedia, electrical, leisure and hardware products both though our online store and by mail order. In both Finland and the UK, sales are conducted through our expanding retail network. All our purchasing, transport and goods are handled responsibly according to strict environmental and sustainability standards.

Sustainable development
Clas Ohlson’s head office is located in Insjön, Dalarna County, Sweden. This is also where our Distribution Centre is located which services all stores in Sweden, Norway, Finland and the UK.
Our goal as an organisation is to have clear and competitive offers for our customers in their respective markets. About 2/3 of all Clas Ohlson staff work within the Sales and Communications Department, handling everything from customer needs analysis, product offerings, in-store and online marketing strategies, and providing optimal customer service and advice. All this ensures that the products we offer our customers reach them in the most rapid, efficient and sustainable manner throughout our entire supply chain. Other departments within Clas Ohlson are the Distribution Centre, Purchasing, Retail Expansion, IT and Administration (HR, Finance, Information, CSR, Property Management and Security).
Since 1918 Clas Ohlson has developed a solid purchasing system with a wide network of suppliers from around the world. Our purchasing agency established in Shanghai Kina allows us to be closer to our suppliers. More than half of the products in our range are manufactured in Asia, approximately 17% in Sweden and 27% from the rest of Europe. Only a small percentage comes from other countries around the world.
One of Sweden’s most effective logistics facilities is located here in Insjön, Dalarna County. Here goods are warehoused and sorted and later distributed to all our stores in Sweden, Norway, Finland and the UK. Clas Ohlson was nominated for both Postens and Schenkers Logistics Awards competition in 2008/2009.
As of 30 April 2011, Clas Ohlson had 139 stores established in Sweden, Norway, Finland and the UK. In Sweden and Norway our products are also sold both online and by mail order. Our retail expansion strategy is where feasible to locate our stores in central locations, where our customers carry out their daily affairs.
All efforts within Clas Ohlson are aimed at helping our customers to solve their everyday practical problems and to make their lives a little bit easier. In this aspect Customer Services plays a vital role. It is encouraging to have received so much recognition throughout the years for among other things best customer service, three years in a row.
