The story of Clas Ohlson
Responsibility for the environment, people and society as a whole runs as a common thread throughout our entire business operations and is an important factor for all the decisions we make.
Sustainable development
Our founder, Clas Ohlson took great responsibility for both his staff and customers. He also demonstrated a strong commitment to society at large and was keen to support local communities in Insjön and its surrounding communities. The importance of mutual care and respect for others forms the core of Clas Ohlson’s corporate culture even to this day.Quite a lot has happened since Clas Ohlson’s start in 1918. Today Clas Ohlson is a large international company and purchases its goods from suppliers from around the world. This fact increases our possibilities to influence and at the same time sets higher standards for us to reach in terms of social development, not only within our own business operations but also amongst our suppliers.
Sustainable development and CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility – are important issues for us and are the basis for Clas Ohlson’s core values. For CSR means being a responsible employer, minimising our environmental impact and simultaneously supporting our suppliers in their work for the achieving of common social and environmental goals.A philosophy of sustainability permeates our entire business. This philosophy should be integral in all important decisions that are aimed at meeting the values of sustainability for our customers, suppliers, shareholders and society at large. Our company’s compliance with all applicable laws and environmental standards are equally as important.
We are convinced that good results, job satisfaction, job interest and good communication at the workplace are all achieved through diversity. It is therefore important that we strive for an equal distribution of staff with diverse experiences and backgrounds. No one shall be discriminated on the grounds of sex, age, beliefs, sexual preference or ethnic or national origin.
